The chairs are more flexible, lighter in weight compared to a conventional bench, and easy to handle because they are stackable and can be safely folded if required (for different events). Among other things, the manufacturer emphasizes ergonomics, which is already reflected in the design itself.

Description

CHURCH PEWS

Although church pews may seem to have been in churches and temples since time immemorial, this is not the case. For most church history, the believers stood by the rites. Naturally, the reasons were mainly spiritual, but it was also extremely practical in many ways. Even today, there are churches where there are no pews.

In the medieval churches, the pulpit was often placed in the centre of the church, and the believers had to physically walk to it to hear the priest’s homily. In addition, kneeling has become a normal part of the rituals, so no one was missing the opportunity of sitting during the mass. Over time, however, the sermon was extended, and people were looking for ways to make the time spent in the church more convenient.

Strictly guarded property

Initially, the church pewswere the property of wealthy families or individuals, as their price was extremely high. Later, the sale of pews was taken over under the auspices of the church and they were rented for considerable money. Only after many decades have pews become a common and inseparable part of the interior.

By the way, during this period the production of the bench was difficult, the manufacturer spent several months producing and decorating.

Did you know that…? In some cases, some kind of lockable “boxes” were built around the pews so that no one else could use them, except the owner.

Pews vs. chairs

However, even the best work done will not last forever and once comes the time when reconstruction, replacement of church furniture and equipment is necessary. Needless to say, this is really hard work. The shrine is a place where the spirituality of the ancient times is merged with the present, and the preservation of cultural value is particularly important for church building. There are cases when it is necessary to check the humidity of the air in the church during repairs, or to ensure that the new church pewfits into the interior (which must be approved by the competent authorities).

More than just a pew

Most of us associate the idea of sitting in a church with hard and uncomfortable pews placed in rows so that they optically absorb space and dampen the overall atmosphere. The solution is CONFER church chairs, which perfectly fulfil the function of a pew, with added value!

Tradition with a pinch of modernism

The chairs are more flexible, lighter in weight compared to a conventional bench, and easy to handle because they are stackable and can be safely folded if required (for different events). Among other things, the manufacturer emphasizes ergonomics, which is already reflected in the design itself.

Compact sitting in a style of church pewis a combination of seats and backrests. Another arrangement option is to join individual chairs without joining the seats to provide more personal space.

It is a more comfortable form of modern seating, which moves the tradition of church pews to a higher level, into a new form of the 21st century.
